Meet Susan.Susan is a veteran educator of 24 years who served as a fourth and fifth grade teacher for 15 years. After that, she served as an instructional coach, assistant principal and, for the last four years, has served as the elementary math specialist for Rutherford County Schools in Tennessee. Leading sessions at NCTM regional and national conferences all over the United States, Susan's passion for empowering teachers to create learning experiences where understanding can be developed is evident. She has worked with the Tennessee Department of Education in various roles but most recently as the Math Expert Lead for elementary mathematics in the state. She has also worked with various consulting firms to providing quality training to educators across the state and country. She currently works as a free-lance mathematics education consultant providing transformative professional development on a wide-variety of mathematics topics from quality math instruction to leading mathematics reform. Her fun-filled sessions have been well received by her participants where her goal is for everyone to walk away with at least one small test of change that they will implement in their classroom.
